our global lexicon
The global lexicon is a dictionary quality inventory of around 5, 500 words and prefixes that have global or paneuropean recognisability. This is one of the emerging star features of our Black Box. The global lexicon is essential in global naming and, vitally, lists words that match the headword but have a different meaning as well as those that have the same meaning as the headword. This is different from and considerably more useful and descriptive than conventional online dictionaries. We use screenshots from this in our shortlist presentations. We have recently upgraded this from a paneuropean lexicon and cover all major languages of 20 million speakers or more that contain any quantity of globally recognizable words. The reasons these words have spread and been adopted – loan words in the linguistic parlance – vary from being the bitter fruits of a language of conquest, to the ubiquitous words of business, trade and produce to those of the more elevated arts and sciences, not to mention words of the ever evolving technological field.
