We needed a name that married together a concept of real fruit bits with crumbly filling. It seemed a blend from heaven and so we used a lexical blend of the words fruit and Fantasia.
Fantasia is, of course, the famous animated Disney film from 1940 with the wonderful early animation brought to life by the Leopold Stokowski conducted Philadelphia Philharmonic Orchestra in a series of variations on famous classical and romantic period musical works.
Fantasia is also, notably, the word for ‘fantasy’ in at least a dozen European languages fulfilling the requirement that this should work in all the main European markets. The use of Indo European ancestral word fru-(t)- with Fantasia meant that paneuropean comprehension was comfortably achieved.
