BACKGROUND

In the Spring of 2010 Alasdair Moodie and Kelly Gleason came to us with an excellent proposal to find a name and its full visualisation for a recruitment and services website and company for nurses working in the clinical research profession.

PROJECT

This was to operate in the UK specifically and the name needed, initially, to sound aesthetically attractive and evoke the medical field. After some initial work we narrowed the requirement down to names which were at least partially descriptive. Clinfield, the simple contraction of ‘medical’ plus ‘field’, evokes both a sense of pastoral healing but also the rigour of medical knowledge and standards.

As per our usual process, in addition to identical trademark checks on our longlist, we carried out Google, URL and Companies House checks. Clinfield, as all the shortlisted names, had an available .COM.

Next, we began the process of creating an identity. Following a few face to face meetings where we were able to nail down not only the rational requirements but also the emotional direction they wished to go in, we developed a series of creative approaches. From this the client selected a route that was then fully developed, culminating in a ‘brand book’ and set of brand guidelines which could be used by client in all on and offline circumstances.
