Google & URL Checks

Make sure your name is searchable and available.

Don’t Just Name It, Own It.

A great name means nothing if your audience can’t find it. In today’s digital-first world, Google and URL availability are crucial to the success of your brand. At Appella, we help ensure your name isn’t just unique - it’s visible, ownable and future-ready.

Own the Digital Space Before You Launch

When you’re choosing a brand name, one of the first questions people will ask is: can I find it online? If your name is buried under irrelevant search results, or the perfect domain is already taken, your brand could struggle to gain traction.

That’s why Google and URL checks are essential in the naming process. We assess your shortlist for digital viability, so you know right away which names are worth investing in and which are likely to get lost in the noise.

Our Google & URL Checks Cover:

  • URL availability ownership for priority generic top level domains (GTLDs) and, as required, country specific URLs too
  • Google search ratings for potentially problematic prior usage

Explore each stage below to see how we help make your name digitally powerful and easy to find.

Why Google & URL Checks Matter

Internet searches are vital to verifying how your
new name stands out from competitors in your
target global markets.

Trawling the web this way calls for specialist
skills – the kind we’ve honed for years.

That’s what gives us the edge in winkling out problematic prior use – names that may not be trademark registered but that you’ll have to live with because they pre-exist. Whether it’s a small to medium size competitor, a company that recently failed or a lobby group with contrary interests, you’ll get our recommendation for what kind of risk it represents.

The Appella Approach

We use a combination of descriptive and copied and pasted information for Google hits in addition to using a numerical index for pages with no hit such as 404 error, parked etc. Hits are colour coded.

.COM is the default URL check. Others may be added.

Google and URL checks are used systematically in the phonetically assessed Extended Validation and, along with trademark check information and advice, provide possibly the most informative source data you will encounter at a brand naming agency. Typically between 50 and 150 near-match names are analysed at the Extended Validation phase.
